9/2009: AMA Motorcycle Racing from NJ Motorsports Park
9/2009: -Formula 1 from Monza, Italy
- 11.11 – Imports vs Domestics (Maryland Int’l Racway): With the season nearly over, this annual event held at MIR brings out the best of the Imports and Domestics alike. From daily drivers to specially race prepared race cars, you name it it was here: a car show, bikini contest, burnout contest, crowds, beautiful women, and of course drag racing!
- Racers compete in all makes: Fords, Chevys, Pontiacs, Buicks, and Mopars taking on Hondas, Toyotas, Mitsubishis, Mazdas, Nissans, BMWs, and others. As for the car show, anything between motorcycles, cruisers, classics, hot rods, tuners, low riders, and exotics were present. However what’s a show without the best part– a bikini contest! 30 models strutted their stuff on the stage at MIR. (Coverage by N deVera an Allen Dobbs) (Gallery coming soon)
- 9/2009: Ferrari Cup Challene (NJMP) – Italian Beauty. It usually comes in the color red. Well this time around they were in all colors and driving styles. We attended this annual event at the NJ Motorsports Park for the first time. There were various teams from the US competing in this event – teams from the California, Florida, Texas and even the North East. Lots of fast turns, passing and also not to mention the excitement of seeing a ferrari being passed by another ferrari. Click HERE to view the coverage of the race.
- 9/2009: ARCA REMAX/VW TDI Cup (NJMP) – NJMP was lucky to have the ARCA series visit them during last year. That series along with the VW TDI Cup during 1 weekend results in more racing than you can handle in a weekend. For those who are new to ARCA racing, basically the drivers are professional racers as well as hobby racer. The cars are actually most cars used in the RE/MAX Series were previously used in NASCARThis year’s ARCA race at NMP brought about diehard racing fans and the VW CUP race brought about many VW junkies. Speaking of VWs, for 2009 Hyperfuels became the official supplier for the TDI Cup. In 2010 all the race cars will all be run on SynDiesel B5 Biodiesel as well as all the vehicle/equipment transporters and generators used by the series. Late in the 2008 season Pirelli announced that they would be the official tire supplier for the 2009 VW TDI Cup season. Coverage of this event by Allen Dobbs can be viewed by visiting this link.
- Formula 1 Grand Premio Santander D’Italia - Monza Racetrack, Italy It happens once in Italy and only at the Monza racetrack. With an unexpected finish to this race, Lewis Hamilton was leading into the last lap and of all things to happen to a race leader, Hamilton caught the kerb and went into the wall going into the second Lesmo turn. As a result, the winner ended up being Rubens Barrichello who lead his teammate, Jenson Button home for a Brawn GP one-two. Third place went to Ferrari’s Kimi Raikenen. Also a Porsche Supercup support race was held this weekend. My trip to this race can be seen here. (gallery coming soon)
- 9/2009: AKA Rally AKA Rally. Mention it to anyone who knows about “cannon ball” and they’ll probably laugh. However this rally is an event that runs several days (usually a week) and runs coast to coast or even border to border. Although it’s open to any “John and Mary Smith” this event is open to people like you and me – indeed it would be an eye opening experience to the world of racing….During each rally, there are parties, auto cross events, specal dinner events and yes, even boat rides and go karting. Recent participants were even able to experience the Bonneville Salt Flats in their own car. Indeed it’s a once in a liftime experience. If you would like to read more about a team that took place in this event, check out this link: http://www.rallyduc.com/?p=552 Also, I was able to watch Justin of Redline Design Custom Graphics (http://redlinedesign.tv/) who meticiliously applied the vinyl graphics to the team thriller entry. Check out the work of Justin here!
- 8/2009: Red Line Time Attack (Englishtown, NJ) - Thanks to the work of Allen Dobbs he was able to attend this event and supply these pictures. Feel free to visit his website here to view additional pictures or purchase images.Up close and near the action. That’s how it should be. Coverage thru the eyes of Allen can be seen here.

- The track at Englishtown, NJ was stop #6 of 8 for this national event. Cloudy and rain was the forecast but mother nature cooperated and the events were held as scheduled. For the newbies, this series of events held in North America basically is held at tracks nationwide, that test a driver’s skills given track conditions, number of turns and breaking skills of drivers. All this all with the timer running. The four classes are as follows: Stock, Street, Modified and Unlimited. When all is said and done, for each of the classes you are entered in, he (or she) who runs the fastest time wins. Yes, it is “that simple.”
- This event is open to the general public: for both spectating and participating. It’s open to both domestic and import models. All drivers are welcome to enter and show their driving skills.
